About Dyrøy
The name Dyrøy most likely originates from the old Norse 'dýr', here referring to reindeer. Elvetun, our chosen millenium site (Norwegian: tusenårssted), is host to schools, cultural venues, and a sportshall.
About Målselv
At the turn of the millenium, Målselva was chosen as Målselv municipality's millenium site (Norwegian: tusenårssted). In earlier times this river was the lifeblood of the people, helping with both trading and contact with other areas.
